About

Max Valkenburcht Dombrowski is a Dutch pianist based in Amsterdam. From a young age, he has won prizes at various competitions, among which the first prize at the Young Talent Competition Maassluis, the Classic Young Master award and the second prize at the Princess Christina Competition.

His concert activity has led him to the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Philharmonie Haarlem, Uilenburgersjoel Amsterdam, Theater aan de Parade Den Bosch, Theater De Regentes Den Haag and the Barbarakerk Culemborg a.o.

As a soloist, he has played with the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague and was involved in a documentary-item for the Dutch television production Art Department.

He was also invited to take part in various music festivals, performing most recently at the ‘Grachtenfestival Amsterdam’ (NL), 'Euregio Rhein-Waal Musik Festival’ (DE), ‘Pianowandeling Culemborg’ (NL), ‘Klevischer Klaviersommer’ (DE), ‘Schubert Festival’ (NL) and ‘Peter de Grote Festival' (NL). Apart from that, he is an active chamber musician as a member of the Feniks Trio and frequent collaborator with the Amaris Quartet.

In 2014, Max was admitted to the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague where he studied with Marlies van Gent and Denys Proshayev. Currently, he is completing his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance in the class of Frank Peters at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He has also had the privilege of working together with pianists including Tatiana Zelikman, Boris Petrushansky, Ian Fountain, Konstantin Scherbakov and Frank Braley.

Max is a recipient of support of the Muziekinstrumentenfonds, from which he received a Steinway A on loan. He was also supported by the NL Talenten Fonds.
